Programs and Services

Covenant Child Care

Covenant has a child care program for children ages 3 and up. In addition, it provides after school care for children in elementary school. It is an outgrowth of the church and serves the western branch community. It is open Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Fellowship Programs

The Covenant family enjoys having fun and gets together often to fellowship. Throughout the year, the Nurture Committee holds socials and special programs in an effort to allow our members time to connect personally with their church friends. They host the New Member Receptions, Fish Fry, Valentine Dinner, and many other seasonal events.

Children & Youth Programs

Covenant has a strong youth group that is comprised of youth in 6th grade through 12th. They are busy throughout the year learning about their faith and how to incorporate it into their lives. Annually, they attend the District Youth Conference in Blackstone, Virginia to further their spiritual experience.

Additionally, each Wednesday evening children ages 5 to 10 participate in crafts, music and spiritual study in Covenant's Kids Club. And, every summer we hold an exciting Vacation Bible School (VBS) program, usually at the end of July. VBS is lead by a creative and energetic team of volunteers who want to make learning about God fun.

Outreach Programs

An active Outreach Committee prides itself on reaching out to people locally, regionally, nationally and internationally with a wide-variety of programs. Covenant sponsors a missionary from another country each year in an effort to support their faith efforts through the district's Covenant Relationship Program. In addition, we maintain a stocked food pantry onsite for those in need of non-perishable food items. We also provide a local family or families in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas with food and gifts to help them celebrate the season.

A Witness to Others

Covenant would not exist without witnessing our faith to others. We do so through programs that shows the community that we believe in Jesus Christ and welcome them to our church. Annually, the Witness Committee hosts a Live Nativity during December and shares gifts and music to a Methodist Women's Home on Christmas Eve.

Music Program

Led by our music director, Nancy Minter, Covenant has a choir program in place, as well as a bells program. The choir group practices once a week and performs each Sunday at the 11 a.m. service. The bells group practice and perform intermittently throughout the year. The sound of beautiful music fills the chapel.

United Methodist Men and Women

The UMM and UMW programs are active and strong at Covenant. The men's group meets monthly, on the first Saturday of each month for a breakfast meeting. They regularly hold work sessions to spruce up the church property and perform handyman work on the building. They successfully hold two BBQ sales each year to raise funds to support missions and special needs of the church. The women's group meets several times a year for fellowship and they conduct an annual yard sale and sell specialty products to raise funds to support mission programs. Both are a great way to help others and enjoy your Covenant family.
